How a newly appointed chief executive rebuilt her leadership team in 14 weeks
When Rosalind T. stepped into the CEO role at a mid-cap financial services firm, she inherited a senior team fractured by two years of restructuring. Engagement scores had dropped to their lowest in the company's history. Within three months of beginning her coaching engagement with us, she had realigned the executive committee around a shared strategic narrative, reduced voluntary attrition among her direct reports to zero, and restored board confidence in the leadership pipeline.
"I didn't need another strategy consultant. I needed someone who could hold up a mirror and help me see the patterns I was creating without realising it."
Executive Coaching grounded in real outcomes
Every engagement we undertake at Expert Exec Guides begins with a single question: what would measurably change if this leader operated at their full capacity? The narratives on this page are drawn from real client journeys — anonymised, but structurally faithful.
Inside a typical coaching arc
Weeks 1–3: Diagnostic immersion
We conduct stakeholder interviews, review 360-degree feedback, and map the leader's decision-making patterns against organisational priorities. This phase produces a confidential Diagnostic Memo — a document that becomes the compass for the entire engagement.
Weeks 4–10: Focused development sprints
Bi-weekly coaching sessions target the two or three leverage points identified in the diagnostic. Between sessions, the leader works with structured reflection exercises, real-time behavioural experiments, and brief check-ins. We adjust the focus dynamically based on what emerges in practice, not just what was planned.
Weeks 11–14: Integration and handover
The final phase embeds new patterns into the leader's operating rhythm. We co-create a personal leadership operating system — a lightweight set of practices, decision frameworks, and feedback loops that sustain growth long after formal coaching ends.
Post-engagement: Sustained support
All clients receive two follow-up sessions at 30 and 90 days after formal closure. These sessions catch drift early and reinforce the behavioural shifts that matter most. We also offer ongoing advisory retainers for leaders who want a thinking partner on call.

Turning technical brilliance into organisational leadership
Damien W. had co-founded a software company that grew from twelve people to over two hundred in three years. His technical judgment was impeccable, but his leadership style — intense, detail-driven, and reluctant to delegate — was creating bottlenecks across the engineering organisation. His co-founder and the board asked him to work with a coach or step aside.
Over sixteen weeks, Damien learned to distinguish between problems that needed his expertise and problems that needed his trust. He redesigned his weekly operating rhythm, introduced a tiered decision-making framework for his direct reports, and rebuilt a relationship with his co-founder that had been strained for over a year.
Working principles that shape every engagement
Confidentiality is non-negotiable
What happens in a coaching session stays there. We never report content to sponsors, boards, or HR without the leader's explicit consent. Trust is the foundation; without it, nothing meaningful changes.
We challenge, not comfort
Our role is not to validate existing beliefs. We surface blind spots, test assumptions, and hold leaders accountable to the standards they set for themselves. Expect to be uncomfortable — that is where growth lives.
Outcomes over hours
We do not bill by the hour or pad engagements to fill a retainer. Every session has a purpose, every exercise has a measurable intent. When the work is done, we say so — even if the contract allows for more.
Leading through a funding crisis without losing the mission
When Amara K. learned that her organisation's largest funder was withdrawing support — representing nearly forty percent of annual revenue — she faced a leadership challenge that no strategic plan had anticipated. The board was anxious, her senior team was demoralised, and she felt personally responsible for an outcome she could not have prevented.
Our coaching engagement focused on three things: separating her identity from the crisis, building a communication strategy that was honest without being paralysing, and creating a rapid-response team structure that could pursue new funding while maintaining programme delivery. Within five months, the organisation had diversified its funding base, retained every key staff member, and Amara had emerged as a more resilient and trusted leader than before the crisis began.
Is this the right fit?
Executive coaching is a significant investment of time and attention. It works best when certain conditions are in place. Use these markers to assess whether now is the right moment.
You hold genuine authorityYou are a CEO, C-suite executive, managing director, founder, or senior vice president with decision-making power over people, strategy, or both.
You are willing to be challengedYou want honest feedback, not reassurance. You are ready to examine your own patterns and make changes that may feel uncomfortable at first.
There is a clear stakeSomething meaningful depends on your leadership improving — a transition, a team challenge, a strategic pivot, or a personal threshold you need to cross.
You can commit the timeCoaching requires bi-weekly sessions plus reflection between them. If your calendar cannot accommodate ninety minutes every two weeks, this is not the right moment.
Begin a conversation
Every engagement starts with a confidential exploratory call — no obligation, no sales pressure. We listen to your situation, share how we might approach it, and you decide whether to proceed. Most leaders know within twenty minutes whether the fit is right.

A note on how we work
We are a small practice by design. At any given time, we work with no more than eight leaders simultaneously. This constraint is intentional — it ensures that every client receives the depth of attention that transformative coaching demands. We do not outsource, we do not delegate sessions to junior coaches, and we do not run group programmes.
Our coaching methodology draws on behavioural science, systems thinking, and three decades of combined experience working inside and alongside large organisations. We are not therapists, and we are not consultants. We occupy a distinct space: a rigorous thinking partnership focused on leadership behaviour and its organisational consequences.
We work across sectors — financial services, technology, healthcare, education, non-profit, and professional services — because the patterns of senior leadership are remarkably consistent regardless of industry. What varies is context, and we invest heavily in understanding yours before we begin.
If you are exploring executive coaching for the first time, or if you have had a previous experience that did not deliver what you hoped, we are happy to discuss what makes our approach different. The exploratory call is genuinely without obligation — we turn down engagements that are not a strong fit, and we expect our clients to do the same.
